Well dear students, we are really coming to the end of our intensive course together...it's hard to believe that it is almost over...you worked well and very hard and with the exception of early morning difficulties (arriving on time to class) in the last couple of weeks it has been a pleasure for both Adrianne and myself to teach you and see you progress so much...
The research project, both the papers and presentations were great. And a very big Thank you to Jeoung Hwan and Adriano and everybody else who filmed and helped with the "technological" aspects.
One last assignment for the blog: Guess what?
Your reaction to the blogging project.
What did you like about it? What didn't you like? What did you learn from participating in this project? Did your writing improve? Should marks be assigned to this project? Any other suggestions?
I have already posted the schedule for next week(see last week's posting). Just be sure to be present every day. If you cannot be present (immigration appointment, appointment at the university etc. please make sure to contact us).
Have a great weekend despite the snow storm! This will be the last winter storm(I hope!)
We are looking forward to your last blogs. Don't forget to read and react to your classmates...

Happy New Year to all students who are celebrating today!!! All my best wishes to you and your family for an excellent year of the pig, I believe. I realized from Maggie's blog that today was the Chinese New Year...I knew it was sometime in February but I wasn't sure when.
Enjoy your new year day...and don't worry about the research paper you can catch up tomorrow(I'm only talking to those who are celebrating not to all of you).

A short message
Hello dear students,
I must say that I am quite pleased with your work so far both in terms of your blogs, summaries, mid terms and yes even your research. Hopefully you will begin your drafts over this weekend...you can send them to me by e-mail u_lili@hotmail.com if you have finished by tomorrow afternoon...
In terms of blogging, please reflect on the mid term video and reading on population: what struck you as most interesting? Explain and comment on your classmates' work: you can use the following questions to help you think about the topic:
1. What trends allow you to feel optimistic about the future in terms of
population?
2. What trends could lead to a more pessimistic outcome?
3. What do you think should be done in the industrial world in terms of
population? In the emerging nations?
Also, Adrianne has posted something for you so please check her blog.

Homework assignments - February 2,3,and 4th, 2007
Hi everyone,
I managed to find some time to post the assignments today.
1. Final version of written Book Reviews for Monday.
2. Look in encyclopedias for articles on your topic. Summarize one of the articles. This summary should be like an abstract (one paragraph linking the main ideas. Publish your summaries on your blog.
3. We will be beginning a new topic on Monday. The topic is "happiness". Freewrite(don't worry about grammar and spelling and organization. Just write your ideas on happiness in sentence form. Write whatever comes into your head and publish it.
Unfortunately, I did not bring the blog address list with me...so I can't publish or mail them to you. Therefore, you won't be able to comment on your classmates' blogs....keep checking my blog. Maybe I'll find a way. Perhaps, if you look at the comments on the blog, you might be able to connect to your classmate's blog. Or, does anyone have any other ideas?

Welcome to the world of A2 blogging! Blogging in A2 is a writing/response activity. At this level, you will read articles of current events(newspapers and magazines), summarize and respond to the ideas in the articles. Other students will then respond to the blogs and you will respond to blogs of two other students. We'll also be using blogs for other purposes such as reaction to a project you have been working on or to a movie you may have recently seen etc. Blogging will be done on a weekly basis. So let's get started and have some fun.
To practice a little, try responding to my blog. show me that you know how to work on this blog. Press comments at the end of this posting and respond.
